TWILIGHT FAIR REPORT 2008

What a great time was had by one and all on Friday, November 14th, the night of our annual Twilight Fair.

The weather remained kind to us, even after some welcome rain the night prior. There was lots of entertainment provided by our very own "Bannockburn Idols, some children took the opportunity to throw a wet sponge at a teacher whilst others tried their luck at the handball competition.

There was plenty to eat. Fairy Floss was a huge favourite again this year as was the strawberries and cream and cake stall. The Krispy Kreme doughnuts were also a huge hit. But it wasn't all sweets to be eaten on the night. This year we opted for 3 smaller food tents - BBQ, Fries & Hot Potatoes and this new format worked well.

Children were entertained racing go-karts, tumbling down the giant slide, trying their luck at the coin toss or taking a spin on the CHA CHA. The CHA CHA was our new attraction this year and everyone from children to adults enjoyed this new ride.

For those adults not brave enough to relive their childhood and take a spin on the CHA CHA, there was still lots to do. There were numerous craft stalls, a great range of second hand books and plenty of plants looking for a new home. If you preferred something more relaxing scones and cream were available at the afternoon tea stall or you could just sit back and enjoy the entertainment coming from the big truck.

The Twilight Fair is a very important event for the school and the wider community. The obvious benefit is the money raised for the school. The Fair is our major fundraiser for the year and it is an important source of revenue. The money raised from the Fair allows us to contribute to the educational opportunities of our children.

It was great to see the whole school community involved!

A big thank you to all the people who spent many, many hours organising the Fair. From helping set up tents, preparing food, picking up and dropping off items, making telephone calls and obtaining donations. There are too many to name but every little bit helps and your contribution is appreciated. Also many thanks to the families who made cakes for the cake stall or provided materials for other stalls.

Finally a special thank you to all our sponsors. Your support is very much appreciated and contributes greatly to the success of our Fair.
